How to use Ten pro

We know, Afro hair can be hard to care for, even if all of the advice is to be kind to ourselves, be nice about our curl pattern, etc. The fact is Afro hair is dense, very thick and whilst beautiful, can take some time to detangle. We promise it doesn’t need to be a 4-hour process, or even a 2-hour one. Here’s our take on how to do your Afro hair in 45 minutes (washday), and even 10 minutes in total!
Washday tips - 45 mins
Soak your coils and kinks:
Do not skip this step, get your ‘fro soaking in the shower - a spray bottle doesn’t cut it, and thanks to modern power-showers it’s far easier to get your hair wet thoroughly under the shower head.
Note, your hair needs to be soaking wet for myriad reasons: 1. water helps to define curls, 2. hydration comes from water, 3. very wet hair is the most malleable, this is what you want when detangling and styling.
Once your hair is soaking wet divide your damp or wet hair into sections for even application. This ensures each strand gets plenty of Ten Pro magic.
Finger Detangling Magic:
Detangling is key to smooth, defined curls. Use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to gently detangle each section as you apply the conditioner. Remember, be patient, but a brush will help to distribute the conditioner evenly.
Style:
Ten Pro is your versatile leave-in companion. Style your curls as usual: bantu knots, twist-outs, braid-outs, or rock your natural texture.
Non-washday tips 10 mins
It’s day 4 and you need your 'fro to be styled in 10 minutes. Do this:
Choose your style, ideally something simple like this because over-complicated styles take time.
Choose your parting. Separate hair. On one side apply Ten pro and twist into a flat twist. Repeat on the other side.
This style works so well because it’s an instant, quick, beautifully classy style. It dries within 24 hours. Untwist the next day for a gorgeous twist-out, flowing fringe. See Danielle’s video below:
Pro Tips:
-
For extra moisture, mix a few drops of Five hair oil with Ten pro during application
-
Don’t be afraid to use Ten pro on clean, but not wet hair. That’s real life and a whole washday mid-week is a lot of effort
-
Be patient: Afro hair requires a gentle touch and twist-outs are stunning the next day.
